Newrybar’s Harvest joins forces with coveted Australian chefs for a native dinner series

Popular south-of-the-border dining destination Harvest in Newrybar is set to welcome some of Australia's most coveted chefs to its kitchen as part of the 2018 instalment of its Wild Harvest chefs series. The monthly event kicks off on March 14 and will see some of the biggest culinary names join forces with Harvest's head chef Alastair Waddell and forager Peter Hardwick to create an exclusive one-off menu that showcases underutilised native and wild ingredients.

Progressive Sydney chef Nelly Robinson, the owner and head chef of famed restaurant nel., will venture north on March 14 to kick-start the Wild Harvest series with a four-course menu driven by contemporary interpretations of modern-Australian dishes. Next to join Alastair Waddell and Peter Hardwick is chef Ben Willis from Canberra’s two-hatted Aubergine restaurant, who will be on the knives in the Harvest kitchen on April 18 to create an intricate menu that pays homage to classic techniques.

On May 16, the chefs series will celebrate the return of French chef Bruno Loubet to Queensland, after spending much of the last decade at London’s esteemed meat-free restaurant Grain Store. Prior to his UK involvement, Loubet spent the 2000s in right here in the Sunshine State with Brisbane establishment’s Bruno’s Tables and Baguette, as well as Berardo’s in Noosa. Argentinian-born chef Alejandro Cancino from Brisbane’s Urbane will be heading to Harvest on June 20, with a four-course vegan-friendly menu that is set to highlight the diverse native produce that lies within the Byron Bay region. Harvest’s own award-winning sommelier Russ Berry will be working with smaller Australian growers and producers to curate a paired wine offering for each event. Seats to the Wild Harvest chefs series are $75 per person for four courses, and a further $45 for paired wines. Pop these dates in your foodie calendar then jump online to book.
