Weird, wild, wonderful – Wonderland Festival returns to reveal all this summer

The weather is warming and the days are lengthening. A palpable energy is returning to our city streets as we work our way into spring, which will soon fold to the most victorious season of the year – summer. Hot days and nights heaving with fun, this is the time for a little self-indulgent celebration after another year spent steeped in deep devotion to the daily grind and responsibility. As always, we are here to help you in these pleasurable pursuits, bringing you a little suggested hedonism to pop in your end-of-year celebratory calendar.

Returning for its sixth year to Brisbane Powerhouse is Wonderland Festival, nine nights of decadence and debauchery you won’t want to miss. Celebrating all things weird and wonderful, Wonderland is an immersive and highly amusing festival that brings together talented performers from all corners of the entertainment ether. There will be comedy, burlesque, circus, music and magic when the festival rolls back into town, bringing its trademark eruption of eclectic energy to one of the busiest arts venues in the Asia-Pacific… and you are invited to join the fun.

The 2019 Wonderland program promises to be the best one yet, bringing to the stage home-grown favourites, interstate recruits and international sensations. Master of falsetto and stiletto, Leather Lungs (Jason Chasland), will bring his unholy energy to audiences, promising a wild visual and vocal ride. Electric Moon will enchant with Fire Walk With Us, reimagining the songs and musical stylings of the iconic Twin Peaks. Bombshell Burlesque will embrace inner indulgences, stripping deep into the dreams (or nightmares) of spectators. There will also be acts that defy physical capability with the return of Head First Acrobatsplus thought-provoking puzzlement delivered by Matt Tarrant in his show Unsolved and Christopher Wayne’s Fully Clothed. Following the success of last year’s Two Man Tarantino, the audience will again be invited to play cast with the new stage show Die Hard the Movie the Play.

This unmissable riot of originality, creativity and hilarity is all yours to enjoy from November 21 to December 1. To see the full line-up and buy tickets to secure your end-of-year escape from reality, head to Wonderland Brisbane now.
