Long seducing audiences the world over, including Brisbane concert-goers on his critically acclaimed 2018 Brandenburg debut tour, the ‘Hot Harpist’ aka Xavier de Maistre is back! The former Vienna Philharmonic Principal Harpist will again take to the stage at QPAC, allowing the harp to sing with a distinctive new voice in Vivaldi’s Venice. The French-born musician breathes life into classic symphonies, often playing complex pieces of music that were originally written to be played by an entire orchestra. Vivaldi’s Venice will explore a repertoire of characteristic Venetian works, including beloved concertos by Vivaldi himself. The works, which are typically played on solo violin and orchestra, have been masterfully adapted by Xavier for harp and orchestra, with the harp’s polyphonic sounds breathing new life into the music.
