A hawker-style night market is popping up in The City to celebrate the Lunar New Year

If you’ve already abandoned your resolutions since January 1 ticked over, fear not – a second chance is coming your way. We’re talking the Lunar New Year! To celebrate the occasion, Brisbane will be getting a special one-off night market dedicated to the Year of the Pig – and you’d better come with a swine-like appetite. On Friday February 1, the Treasury Brisbane courtyard will come alive as a hawker-style wonderland featuring delicious food, eye-popping entertainment and good fortune to spare.

The Year of the Pig night markets will see the stunning open-air Treasury courtyard turned into a hawker-style wonderland, complete with a sea of glowing red lanterns to set the mood. Patrons drawn to the glow will be greeted with a special edition Red Lotus cocktail upon arrival, which they can sip whilst weaving through the crowds. An abundance of Asian market-style cuisine will be on offer – think fragrant mini beef pho, fresh Vietnamese chicken salad, spicy steamed bao, delicious dumplings and sweet pandan brulee.

The exciting foodie aspects don’t stop there – the Year of the Pig night markets will also play host to celebrity chef Luke Nguyen (of Red Lantern and Fat Noodle fame). Luke will be putting on a live cooking demo to show of his considerable culinary skill set, as well as a meet and greet for fans. The atmosphere will be completed with exciting live entertainment like lion-dances, themed pop-up bars and more.

Tickets to the Year of the Pig night markets are on sale now through Treasury Brisbane – snap one up now before they disappear!
