American Express Openair Cinemas is bringing more than movies to Brisbane this winter – and it’s moved to a brand-new location! With more than 30 screenings happening in the historic surrounds of the City Botanic Gardens in the CBD, the festival vibes will be in full swing every night with an array of alternative entertainment, live music and DJ performances before the latest and greatest feature films light up the big screen.

This year’s program is an exciting mix of box office hits and highly anticipated new releases including Rocketman, Men in Black: International, X-men: Dark Phoenix, Yesterday and Spiderman: Far from Home. Little and big kids alike will rejoice at screenings of family films such as Aladdin, The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Toy Story 4.

American Express Openair Cinemas have always been proud supporters of Australian cinema and will be screening three homegrown films in Brisbane season – the inspiring documentary 2040 and two hilarious rom-coms, Top End Wedding and Standing Up For Sunny.

For fans of cult classics, this year’s program features an 80th-anniversary screening of The Wizard of Oz, a special Christmas in July screening of Love Actually and a throwback screening of the most quotable film of all time – Clueless!

The brand-new food partner for 2019 is Pizza Queensland Bros, who will be cooking up a storm throughout the program. There will be a mouth-watering daily menu of irresistible woodfired pizzas (including Nutella pizza!), antipasto platters and salads, which are sure to delight cinemagoers.
