We could probably all do with some good news right about now so here it is music lovers – BIGSOUND 2020 is happening, however this year it’s going completely virtual! Widely recognised as Australia’s premier music industry conference and artist showcase, BIGSOUND is where the world discovers Australian music. As you might expect, this year’s online festival will look a little different from previous years but still promises to entertain, inform and inspire with a revised program of livestreamed conferences, music and virtual get-togethers across two jam-packed days from Wednesday October 21 to Thursday October 22.
The full BIGSOUND program will be released in late September, but we have just received the first drop of keynote speakers – and folks, it is SPICY. Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Prophets Of Rage, the Nightwatchman) leads the first announcement with a presentation exploring his life as a musician and activist. He will be joined by such luminaries as the legendary Kev Carmody, wunderkind Tones & I, Amy Shark, Rhonda Roberts and Ziggy Ramo, culinary hero Nat’s What I Reckon, Mumu Fresh, Howard Freeman and Johann Ponniah. You can register as a delegate now so you don’t miss out on any of the goodness.
As always, the event will have big conversations, from the new commercial realities through to the mental and physical health of industry participants. BIGSOUND 2020 will also feature First Nations House in partnership with Spotify to provide a poignant and important program of domestic and international delegates discussing the future of the music industry, creating virtual performance opportunities and offering valuable connections to those across the music industry from a First Nations perspective.
Free digital registrations open from today – Thursday September 3 – at BIGSOUND however the full BIGSOUND delegate portal will be open for registrants from the end of September for networking and exclusive content.
