Tickets

$25–$45 available through Brisbane Writers Festival

State Library of Queensland comes alive with stories at this very special opening night event on Thursday 5 September 2019. Join us at this joyful and thought-provoking celebration for readers and writers from all walks of life, young and old.

Join writer, actor and comedian Steven Oliver (A Chance Affair) and a stellar line up of spoken word artists as they explore and celebrate what it means to be human. In this special event to open the Festival Omar Sakr (The Lost Arabs), Australian slam poet winner Solli Raphael and Australian slam poetry champion Melanie Munungurr-Williams will light up the stage with the power of words and writing to bring about change, followed by a conversation with rapper and Young Australian of the Year Danzal Baker aka Baker Boy (pictured).

We’ve also got loads of free events happening on opening night! Check back on our website over the coming months for details of free events including the grand opening of the Tirra Lirra Festival Hub, live music, storytelling, and much more.

These tickets will book out fast – get in today!
