REDSEA Gallery is excited to ‘welcome you to The Alterverse’ this October with the latest collection of paintings by Brisbane artist, Gary Winfield.

The Alterverse is defined as the place where our universe is located. Gary Winfield describes the theory of The Alterverse and the Surrealist movement as influences of his vivid colour manipulations. The surrealists’ aim was to rethink the relationship between external phenomena and the inner being with the objective of transforming the world and changing human consciousness.

Welcome to The Alterverse features a new collection of works that capture Gary’s ideas of philosophy, reality and states of consciousness.

Beyond the paint and theory, Gary has a method he applies to create the relaxed, spontaneous flow of colours. Balancing the drying times, the layering of specific colours and knowing when to cease painting is something Gary has mastered. Like most things in life that appear simple, the simplicity is actually more complicated than it appears. The paintings take time and specific configuration to construct their unassuming composition. Gary Winfield graduated from USQ with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours) in 2010.
