Design your own attractive and useful journals with Brisbane-based artist and printmaker, Kay Watanabe. In this workshop Kay will teach simple book-binding techniques using basic as well as decorative Japanese stab stitches. Participants will take home a few journals and new skills which can be easily applied when making journals, pamphlets, and zines. Basic materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own favourite paper and threads to for your own personal design.

What you’ll do in the workshop:

Learn Japanese stab stitch techniques
Get ideas to apply the journal-making techniques to pamphlets and zines.
Experiment with paper and thread
Create and take home a few A5-sized journals

What to bring

Favourite papers or threads (optional)
Please wear enclosed shoes
