Every year, more than 25,000 humpback whales pass through the Moreton Bay Region on their annual migration to the warmer, tropical waters of north-east Queensland. There, they will breed and make their way back down, once again passing our shores, this time, with their offspring in tow.

This year we will welcome the whales with a new Welcome to the Whales activation at Redcliffe KiteFest.

Participate in educational and environmental activities, sand sculptures and, of course, the ‘Whale wishes’ ceremony, where patrons can place a pebble on the gorgeous sand sculpture to wish safe passage to all whales entering Moreton Bay waters.

The Welcome to the Whales event is included in your Redcliffe KiteFest Pass.
