Bottoms up – 20 20 Distillery opens its tasting room in Cooroy

There's no doubt that the Sunshine Coast is blessed when it comes to drinking destinations – from craft-beer breweries to lively gin distilleries and everything boozy in between. Adding a bit of flavour into the mix is 20 20 Distillery, Cooroy's boutique spirits haven that has just swung open the doors of its tasting room for lovers of libation – whether that be gin, whisky or cold ones.

Named after the ‘vision’ and not the year (we don’t need a reminder in writing, please), 20 20 Distillery is Noosa Hinterland’s newest sipping spot. The distillery and tasting room is the brainchild of Brian Bedding, who has been gradually putting the pieces together for his dream project over the past few years. Brian is tapping in to the Sunshine Coast’s bountiful fruit bowl to help concoct a selection of gins, single-malt whisky and liqueurs, with recipes inspired by traditional methods. Simplicity is the secret ingredient in all of 20 20’s boozy sips, with its East London Dry Gin containing just seven botanicals and its single-malt whisky distilled in a traditional copper pot, old-school-style.

Those after a creative concoction to enjoy on site have a bounty of bevies to choose from, including a comprehensive gin menu that features innovative varieties of martinis, negronis and even seltzers on tap in flavours like orange, mango and ginger. Lighter options come in the form of a huge range of frothy characters including a Cooroy Bitter, Gin Lager, IPA and Session Ale, plus a lip-smacking range of non-alcoholic sips. Hungry folk won’t leave unsatisfied either, as the distillery offers an enticing selection of bites like charcuterie boards that boast locally made cheese, dips and other nibbles.

20 20 Distillery will be open every Friday from 3:00–8:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00–8:00 pm. To find out more, make tracks here
