Allpress set to impress with new East Brisbane coffee haven

It’s been 17 years since New Zealand-born coffee mavericks Allpress Espresso made landfall in Australia, and now the acclaimed roaster has come to stake its claim in Brisbane's coffee scene. Allpress Espresso has just opened its own bricks-and-mortar spot in East Brisbane, establishing a proper home from which to spread the good word of coffee. Following on from Allpress Espresso’s interstate locations, Allpress Brisbane is looking to set itself up as a community hub, bringing people together over a shared love of coffee and conversation.

The space
Like its locations in Sydney and Melbourne (and a far cry from the roaster’s former Albion hub), Allpress Espresso in East Brisbane is designed to be a multi-faceted space to act as a training and distribution centre in addition to being a dynamo cafe. The fit-out has retained the bones of the gorgeous corner location on Wellington Road, utilising existing windows to maximise light, natural textures and materials (such as locally sourced timber) and an earthy colour palette to enhance the location’s heritage elements, which include Oregon trusses and existing brickwork. The brand has brought several elements of the business together under one roof, with the venue becoming a home to a training area for Allpress staff and cafe partners, a technical workshop to service and work on La Marzocco espresso machinery and a production space for picking and packing coffee – not to mention a spacious cafe space that can seat 19 patrons.

The food and drink
Any fan of Allpress coffee (or, let’s be real, coffee in general) is encouraged to take a seat at the espresso bar to get an up-close-and-personal look at the masters at work. Three blends and a rotating single origin or special blend feature daily (all fluidised hot-air roasted in Sydney), with the baristas expertly pouring brews in espresso, V60 and filter varieties. If you’re keen to snack while you sip, Allpress Espresso’s food menu features a selection of simple dishes designed to compliment the coffee. Cornetto pastries with apple or vanilla cream, mixed plates with toast, boiled egg, avocado, tomato, provolone and prosciutto, buckwheat granola, and more are up for grabs if you’re feeling particularly peckish, as are teas and hot chocolate if you aren’t big on coffee.

The details
Allpress Brisbane stocks the full range of Allpress beans to purchase and brew at home, as well as a great range of brewing apparatus. The newest limited-edition bean is the Christmas blend, which boasts a flavour profile of berries and spice. The cafe will also host classes to teach coffee enthusiasts how to brew the perfect cup at home, and will also host events with industry professionals in order to spread coffee knowledge far and wide.

Allpress Espresso in East Brisbane is open and trading now. Contact details, opening hours and more information can be found in the Stumble Guide.
