Molto bene! The Pizzantica crews opens Amalfi Pizzeria in Clayfield

Anybody else finding themselves regularly lost deep in travel daydreams? Our minds have travelled all over the world these past few weeks (definitely amplified by the influx of 'take me back!' Instagram posts in our feed), so we've been curing our wanderlust through food. If your imaginary passport has its sights on the azure waters of the Positano, we've got good news for you. Your food cure has popped up in Clayfield, aptly named Amalfi Pizzeria, brought to you by the team behind Pizzantica.

The dough slingers at Pizzantica sure know their pizza. Since launching in 2013 as a mobile pizza-catering business (and also operating out of Casa Italia in New Farm), the team has been committed to serving up fresh, authentic Neapolitan-style pizza to the people of Brisbane. For its latest venture, the crew is venturing a little further south down the Italian coast, where the mountains meet the ocean, the grandmas wear bikinis and good times are to be had down every set of steep steps. Amalfi Pizzeria opened to the public on April 8, serving up authentic Southern Italian pizza, pasta, bites and desserts to takeaway. The new Clayfield venue has been in the works for some time and, thankfully, the current hospitality restrictions didn’t alter the initial concept too much. Amalfi will continue to be a predominantly takeaway operation, however once restrictions are eased there will be seats for casual dining in the light and airy space.

As with its sibling venue, pretty much everything in the Amalfi kitchen is made from scratch. The menu features a selection of Italian classics to start – think focaccia, arancini and polpette al sugo – and house-made pastas including lasagne and mushroom gnocchi, but the real hero here is the pizza. The dough is handmade each week and stretched to order on site, ensuring your pizza is as fresh as it can be. Amalfi serves up an array of red- and white-based pizzas, with toppings such as pepperoni, truffled burrata, capricciosa, proscuitto e stracciatella and tartufo. There are also a number of pizza classics turned vegan (and you can also select a gluten-free base), as well as specialty montanara deep-fried pizza and filled panzerotti. You can also pick up authentic Italian pantry staples (while pretending you’re staying just up the cobblestoned path in your coastal Airbnb) such as dried pasta, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and passata. Buon appetito!

Amalfi Pizzeria is open now on Junction Road in Clayfield for pick up, or delivery is available via Uber Eats. For opening hours and contact details, head to our Stumble Guide
