Scope out Libertine’s new outdoor cocktail and snack nook Bar Jardin

Have you seen Libertine lately? The Petrice Terrace mainstay has got something new going on. No, the acclaimed fare is the same, as is the seductive and sophisticated interior. Libertine has entered the new year with a brand-new outdoor bar area that is catering to the late-night snack set with aplomb. Bar Jardin at Libertine whipping up stellar cocktails and cooking up bar snacks that are just as appetising as the main fare – though with the added benefit of outdoor dining regardless of weather.

Libertine has called The Barracks home for many years, dishing up an intoxicating selection of French and Vietnamese-inspired fare and sublime cocktails. In the final months of 2017, the eatery underwent a bit of an exterior makeover, overhauling its under-utilised outdoor area into a drinking and dining destination in its own right. Bar Jardin is the name of the new portion, a tranquil spot for a pre-dinner drink or a late-night snack made complete by a brand-new bar, swish new furnishings and even a retractable roof, meaning that patrons can stop by and be comfortable even in inclement weather.

As far as the culinary delights are concerned, Bar Jardin keeps its menu neat but full of flavour, continuing the inspired French-Vietnamese direction going across its selection of smaller bites. After 9:00 pm the bar menu is activated, with the likes of fried pickles with smoked mayonnaise, hot-smoked trout pate, roasted barbecue duck and spiced cherry crepes, Hanoi eight-spiced popcorn chicken, free-range Bangalow pork spring rolls, and Vietnamese pork quiches with chipotle chilli relish on hand to tantalise tastebuds. Libertine’s cocktail menu extends to Bar Jardin as well, with the venue’s signature champagne cocktails joined by the likes of pink lychee cosmopolitans, Saigon slings, Vietnamese lemonade, yuzu margaritas and cocktail pitchers.

Bar Jardin sounds like a great place to spend a summer’s eve. For contact and location details, check out Libertine’s entry in the Stumble Guide.
