Brisbane gets Barrel’d by booze served in eco-friendly French oak kegs

All manner of tipples from beer and cocktails through to kombucha and cold-brew coffee are being poured by this innovative Brisbane-based team.

The folks from Barrel’d have come up with a clever way to keep the environment clean and your guests chipper. Drinks on tap means no excess packaging, plastic or rubbish, not to mention the hassle of eskies, ice and refills. After many iterations, co-founders Liam Weate and Fletcher and Sebastian Fraser have created the ultimate drink dispenser capable of serving ice-cold drinks to thirsty punters – a stunning French oak barrel repurposed to provide the ultimate beverage experience.

Locally brewed craft beer, fresh cocktails boasting herbal infusions, certified organic cold-brew coffee, wine, champagne and kombucha – Barrel’d can essentially serve any drink, anywhere. The potions flowing from the copper taps have been considered as closely as the eco-friendly vessel that houses them. Think chilli-infused Bacardi with mango nectar and lime juice, cucumber-infused Pimms with lemon juice, ginger ale and lemonade, and gin with hibiscus and galangal kombucha. Each barrel can dispense two different drink selections, with up to 200 serves on each side. The team strives to keep its endeavours eco-friendly with an energy-efficient, built-in frozen thermal battery in every barrel to keep drinks cool, locally produced glassware and paper straws. Barrel’d is brought to you by the guys behind mobile bar service Little Rum Runner; check out their drinks menu or make an enquiry online.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Brisbane dining guide with more than 2400 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
