Buns under the bridge – Betty’s Burgers opens its Howard Smith Wharves riverside outpost

Brisbane’s booming foodie precinct at Howard Smith Wharves continues to grow underneath the Story Bridge, but just when you think there wasn’t room for any more eateries, Betty’s Burgers opens and becomes the cherry on top of the area’s formidable array of options. Combining its signature selection of burgers, desserts and sides with some terrific riverside atmosphere, Betty’s Burgers (which is opening today, Tuesday May 28) is already shaping up to be a huge boon for one of the city’s popular hotspots.

Boasting a retro beach-shack aesthetic, a menu stacked with juicy burgers and ice-cold desserts, and a perpetually sunny approach to hospitality, it’s no surprise that Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co. has become so popular with Queensland diners. The Noosa-born operation has experienced a huge uptake across the southeast in recent years, with locations popping up on the Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Brisbane – not to mention the inroads made further south. The latest in the Betty’s Burgers expansion sees the concept come to Howard Smith Wharves, where the brand’s fourth Brisbane location has opened today – Tuesday May 28 – at the base of The Fantauzzo.

Fortuitously opening on National Burger Day, Betty’s Burgers at Howard Smith Wharves is wasting no time luring in hungry clientele. The scent of grilling burger patties wafts out past the diner’s coastal-cool surrounds, immediately ensnaring the nostrils of riverside wanderers. Those familiar with the Betty’s offering will be stoked to know that all of the classic selections are available, but if you’re a Betty’s novice, then allow us to educate you. The menu features ten burger varieties to decide between – from classic Angus beef and crispy chicken burgers to fried-mushroom patty burgers and bunless options. You can grab some fries or onion rings on the side, but we suggest saving room for dessert, which takes the shape of Betty’s signature range of concrete (creamy custard ice-cream) served with some decadent mix-ins. Chowing down on burgers is thirsty work – luckily diners can sip on concrete thickshakes, beers, ciders, wines and soft drinks.

Sounds good? We bet it does. Betty’s Burgers is now open at Howard Smith Wharves. For more information, click over to the Stumble Guide now.
