The Dish: Brisbane food news you might have missed this week

There's a lot happening in Brisbane these days, almost too much to keep up with. The Dish is a rapid-fire rundown of Brisbane food news – quick taster-sized tidbits to keep you in the know and, perhaps, tickle your taste buds. This week we’ve got word of chef takeovers, bottomless pasta deals and more!

Zosia Cooks x Superordinary Supper Club
Keen on a culinary experience that extends far beyond a conventional restaurant setting? Conceptual catering and events maestro Zosia Cooks will be teaming up with the crew at Superordinary to host a one-of-a-kind pop-up dinner event melding art, flavour and performance this Friday April 26. Guests are invited to dine inside Superordinary’s marvellously repurposed warehouse home at Northshore Hamilton, with Zosia Cooks orchestrating an epicurean experience that follows a narrative of taste, sound and environment. Diners will move through the venue, enjoying each course amongst a range of different environments inspired by the concept of promenade theatre. Throughout the evening, music responsively scored to the dining experience will look to enhance the atmosphere, while additional surprises will be interwoven to ignite all senses. The pop-up experience will culminate in an outdoor disco, where guests can indulge in a shared rhubarb tiramisu while dancing beneath the stars. Head to the Superordinary website for ticketing info.

Pilot. Restaurant x Exhibition
One of Canberra’s best chefs is popping up to Brisbane for a couple of collaborative dinners next month. Malcolm Hanslow of hatted nosh spot Pilot. Restaurant (Gourmet Traveller’s ACT ‘Restaurant Of The Year’) will be teaming up with Tim Scott of Exhibition fame to deliver a super-special nine-course degustation menu on Tuesday May 14 and Wednesday May 15. Operating under the mantra of “never boring and always delicious”, Mal’s no rules approach to cooking will pair perfectly with Tim’s knack for serving a multi-sensory feast. Reservations for the pop-up event will be released soon and announced via Exhibition’s Instagram page. Optional alcoholic and non-alcoholic pairings will be available, alongside Exhibition’s full drinks list. Head to the Exhibition website for more info.

Shuckin’ Sundays at Victory Lane
There’s no better way to spend a Sunday arvo than by slurping up copious amounts of oysters. The crew behind Victory Lane in Ascot clearly agrees. The Racecourse Road bar and eatery has launched its new Sunday sesh, fittingly called Shuckin’ Sundays. Every Sunday from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm, guests will be able to order freshly shucked oysters from the venue’s own streetside oyster cart for $2 a pop, all while knocking back glasses of effervescent Laurenti Grand Cuvee champagne. Victory Lane will also be hosting live-music performances – everything from laid-back acoustic tunes to upbeat anthems – all afternoon long. See you there?

South City Wine gears up for autumn
We’re in the midst of a much-welcome seasonal change, and the crew over at South City Wine in Woolloongabba is just the place to celebrate. The Euro-style wine bar has given its menu a shake up, with executive group chef Gabriele Di Landri assembling a new range of bistro-inspired dishes to try. Highlights like duck breast a l’orange with fondant potatoes, caramelised eschalot and nasturtium, burrata with ‘nduja pesto and sherry vinegar, and fish du jour with beurre blanc, herbs, tarragon oil and lemon are available alongside a clutch of remaining crowd favourites. As always, South City Wine’s deep and comprehensive list of vino is at your fingertips – the team is guaranteed to recommend something nice.
