The round-up: Brisbane’s best boozy brunches

When it comes to little indulgences, one of the greatest gifts in the world is a good brunch. You get the benefits of a sleep-in combined with the deliciousness that is breakfast food – what could possibly top that? Well friends, the answer is alcohol. Thanks to that glorious mid-morning grey area, treating yourself to a few delicious tipples in the a.m suddenly becomes socially acceptable. If this sounds like your scene, we’ve hunted down Brisbane’s best boozy brunches where the eats and drinks work together to make your day infinitely better – bottoms up!

Beirne Lane, Fortitude Valley: The first rule of Beirne Brunch Club is that you simply won’t be able to stop talking about Beirne Brunch Club – because it’s so dang good! This foodie haven goes all out for weekend boozy brunch, where you can grab tickets to indulge in three hours of bottomless (yep, bottomless) bevs and eats. Live cooking stations, grazing tables and luxe canapes are bolstered by flowing prosecco, rosé and selected cocktails all feature – yep, this is not a drill. Grab your tickets here.

Patina at Customs House, Brisbane City: Folks, the Sunday leisurely brunch at this riverside gem is hard to beat – after all, how do you compete with two hours of Chandon-based bellinis and Belvedere-spiked bloody Marys? This top-shelf offering will add a touch of luxe to your weekend, as the opulence runs through to the food menu as well – sample the likes of kimchi and sweet potato waffles, or perhaps a spanner crab omelette is more up your alley?

Darling & Co, Paddington: There’s no rule that says your plant-based mates should miss out on the joy of a boozy brunch sesh. On Saturdays, you and your crew can book in for a bottomless brunch that features five totally vegan dishes paired with vegan cocktails, wine and prosecco. It’s not just some lazy mushrooms on toast, either – we’re talking zesty brown rice and black-bean sliders paired with the likes of a kombucha Moscow mule.

ZA ZA TA, Fortitude Valley: If you fancy your boozy brunch with a Middle Eastern twist, look no further than ZA ZA TA. This opulent spot will make you feel like you’ve just stepped into a bustling Tel Aviv haven – and on Sundays, you can indulge in its brunch offering that includes mountains of Middle Eastern and Meditteranean eats, plus a selection of flowing alcoholic options (we see you, Aperol Spritz). You can grab more information and make bookings here.

Gauge, South Brisbane: Keen to take your boozy brunch game to the next level? Gauge has got your back. Known for its delicious and innovative food, this South Brisbane darling also offers up adult-leaning sips from 10:00 am. Mimosas, bloody Marys and a selection of exciting Australian beer and wine can be enjoyed with some knockout dishes like the famous black garlic bread (trust us) – go on, try something different!

Pourboy, South Bank: You may know Pourboy for its absolutely lip-smacking coffee, but did you know this rad spot also does a killer boozy brunch? If you can tear yourself away from the bean-based beverage, make a booking for this bottomless affair – you get to choose one of five delectable dishes and either free-flowing mimosas or bloody Marys. Fair warning – having to choose between the croque madame or cheesy corn and jalapeno waffles may be one of the hardest things you have to do.

Balfour Kitchen, New Farm: Bubbles and breakfast – name a more dreamy combination. New Farm’s fancy fine-diner does a damn fine deal where you can choose a breakfast favourite and a glass of fizz plus fresh juice – we can’t go past the house-smoked king salmon on rye with poached eggs. Alternatively, you can go your own way with a selection of mimosas, bellinis and bloody Marys available.

Covent Garden, West End: Bottomless brunch is a pretty tempting deal, and Covent Garden knows how to do it right. This leafy gin palace goes troppo every Sunday with its bottomless offering – choose two hours of flowing Pimms or Golden Gai cocktails paired with savoury share boards.

Cloudland, Fortitude Valley: If the combination of morning booze and drag queens has you salivating, pencil in a visit to Cloudland’s Brunch With Bite. Every Sunday, fabulous female impersonators will entertain you as you indulge in an Intalian-inspired banquet brunch menu. Drinks include the likes of spritzes, mimosas, sangria and bloody Marys (of course) – with the option to make ’em bottomless for a little extra.

remy’s, Paddington: This leafy little locale is a venue after our own collective hearts when it comes to boozy brunch. Featuring a dedicated menu of five mouth-watering morning cocktails (including a bacon waffle bloody Mary) you can pair your drinks with some delicious morning staples – we’ve got our eyes planted firmly on that breakfast mince.

Riverbar & Kitchen, Brisbane City: The only thing that makes day drinking even better is a killer view, and Riverbar & Kitchen delivers this in spades. Perch yourself outside and take in the stunning waterfront vista while you sip on a selection of expertly crafted cocktails paired with classic breakfast dishes. After all, who wouldn’t fall head over heads for French toast and a frosé at 10:00 am?

Yavanna, Paddington: Who says our plant-based pals can’t indulge in a boozy brunch? The vegan wizards at Yavanna have got you covered with a mind-blowing breakfast menu complemented perfectly by morning-friendly cocktails. Sip on spiked chai or a bloody Mary while you munch on house-made tofu scramble or sesame mushrooms – trust us, even your carnivorous mates will be licking their lips.

Harveys Bar and Bistro, Fortitude Valley: Any venue that includes a list of adult-inclined libations on its brunch menu gets our tick of approval. This James Street institution serves up a selection of day-starters done absolutely right, as well as the aforementioned cocktails – think spiked sweet tea, blood orange gin concoctions and butter-rubbed espresso martinis.

Kettle & Tin, Paddington: Fancy a bloody Mary with your brunch? Kettle & Tin can tame any hunger with its mouth-watering breakfast menu and killer selection of morning-friendly cocktails. Bourbon butter shakes, bloody Marys and beetroot negronis star alongside chicken and waffles, bahn xeo and even jambalaya.
