Bruno’s BNE brings big smiles, benedict and banoffee French toast to Tarragindi

We don't like comparing Brisbane to our friends down south. But one thing we do love about Sydney and Melbourne is the community vibe you get in the suburbs – locals flock to their neighbourhood cafes, restaurants and bars without feeling the need to venture towards the city. So you can imagine the joy it brings us here at The Weekend Edition when increasingly each week, we are seeing more and more exciting openings in the suburban areas of Brisbane. This week Bruno's BNE has opened its doors in Tarragindi, bringing specialty coffee and delectable eats to the leafy suburb.

Bruno’s BNE is a shiny new beacon of delicious hope in Tarragindi. The once-worn shopfront beside Tarragindi Recreation Reserve has been given a new lease on life and new minimalist aesthetic, but touches of timber, leadlight windows and scattered vintage curios allude to the rustic Queenslander charm that Tarragindi is renowned for. The cafe buzzes with activity, and owner/barista Bruno works like an ever-smiling machine on the group heads, expertly pouring cups of PadreDukes and Single O specialty coffee. Head to The Street Photographer for a closer look!

The all-day menu at Bruno’s is concise, but certainly tummy-grumble inducing. There are obvious breakfast and lunch options to choose from, but no one is going to judge you if you choose a burger for breakfast (especially when it has beef, brown-butter mushrooms, gruyere, tempura onion, pickles and crispy potato), or have eggs benedict with your choice of pulled pork or bacon after 11:00 am. Other breakfast-y options include banoffee French toast, topped with banana ice-cream, dulce de leche and short-crust crumble (yes please), and apricot, coconut and macadamia muesli with coffee panna cotta and rosemary peach. If your heart is set on something more like lunch, go for duck rice-paper rolls or tomato and fried goats cheese salad.

twe-brunosbne-020The details
Specialty coffee is a key focus of Bruno’s BNE. The cafe’s namesake, owner and head barista Bruno Silvafranca is excited to working with Melbourne’s Padre Coffee and Duke Coffee Roasters and Sydney’s Single Origin Roasters for the beans. As a Tarragindi local, Bruno wants the cafe to be a place for the community to enjoy – whether its a leisurely weekend breakfast with friends and your pup (Bruno’s is dog-friendly!), or after-school milkshake and ice-cream with the kids.

If you’re still drooling over the thought of banoffee French toast (don’t worry we are too), head to our Stumble Guide for Bruno’s opening hours and contact details.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Brisbane dining guide with more than 2400 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
