The process behind the Byron for Melbourne initiative is simple. Businesses will kindly ask diners to donate a tip, with all contributions going to TiPJAR, a relief fund dedicated to supporting and helping the hospitality industry. The jam-packed line-up of foodie legends and restaurants that are throwing their hat in the ring includes David Moyle from Harvest Newrybar, Jason Saxby of Raes of Wategoes, Darren Robertson from Three Blue Ducks and Josh Lewis from Fleet. Rounding out the roster of generous characters is David Lovett and Jason Barratt of Paper Daisy, Giorgio Ravelli from Cadeau and Ben Devlin of Pipit.
Other players getting behind the Byron for Melbourne initiative include frothy favourite Brick Lane Brewing, which has teamed up with family-owned Melbourne bottle-o Carwyn Cellars to create a special brew called All Together, with proceeds from every sale (in venues, stores and online) donated to the CoVid-19 Employee Assistance Directive. Keeping the spirits high and the booze flowing is Everleigh Bottling Co’s Melbourne Mixtape, a pack of bottled spritz cocktails from eight of Melbourne’s best bars, which will also be raising funds for the cause.
To throw your support behind the initiative, you can donate directly to TiPJAR or head down the coast for a weekend of eating and drinking for a good cause.
