Crack some canned laughter – Newstead Brewing Co. teams up with the Brisbane Comedy Festival

We’re all set to bust a gut laughing for four weeks straight at the Brisbane Comedy Festival, but crying tears of laughter is bound to deplete and dehydrate. Newstead Brewing Co. – reliable quencher of thirsts across Brisbane – has relieved our salivation-deprived gasps with a beer specially brewed for the funny festivities. Canned Laughter is a limited-edition brew that pairs perfectly with belly laughs.

Abbott and Costello, Cheech and Chong, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Laurel and Hardy, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly – some of the best comedic acts of all time are duos. The latest titanic comedy team-up is the Brisbane Comedy Festival and home-grown craft-beer outfit Newstead Brewing Co. The two have combined forces to create Canned Laughter – a limited-edition beer for the comedy fest, available at all official venues.

Canned Laughter is described as a ‘New World Pale Ale’ – a quirky twist on your usual pale ale with a refreshing citrus twist and a punchy alcohol point of 4.4 percent. Those lucky enough to sample the brew will be catching it at its peak freshness point, having just been canned recently. Keep an eye out for the brightly coloured cans at the Brisbane Powerhouse, Brisbane City Hall, SunPAC and Newstead’s own brewpubs in Milton and Newstead, which will be hosting Brewhouse Comedy on Sunday February 24 and Thursday March 14, respectively. Brisbane Comedy Festival will be running from Friday February 22 to Sunday March 24.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Brisbane dining guide with more than 2400 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
