Barambah and Merlo join forces to create a quintessentially Queensland iced coffee

Bottled iced coffee has received a long-awaited makeover, with Queensland favourites Barambah Organics and Merlo Coffee Roasters launching a new sugar- and additive-free brew this week.

The bottles have started running off the production line at Barambah Organics Darra factory and making their merry way down gullets across the country, finally delivering a taste of simplicity to iced coffee fans. The newly created Cold Press Iced Coffee powered by Merlo is free from added sugars, additives, preservatives, flavourings, colourings, vegetable gums and powders. Every delicious slurp of the iced latte is naturally sweet from Barambah’s 100-percent organic full-cream milk, while Brisbane-based Merlo Coffee Roasters delivers a caffeine kick reportedly 1.5 times stronger than a Red Bull.

The roastery has created a special five-bean blend specifically for the new product, which is then cold dripped for 22 hours to create a smooth, rich flavour, and mixed with multi-award-winning milk from Barambah’s 80–90 percent grass-fed cows. The local dairy company pitched the idea for a bottled iced latte to Merlo last year, who jumped at the opportunity to be involved. Barambah says they have a few more ideas up their sleeves, including additional flavours and a lactose-free option. As March continues to serve the sweats, hit up the fridge in any of Merlo’s 15 Queensland cafes, as well as FoodWorks, IGAs, food outlets and independent supermarkets across the country that stock Merlo and Barambah products.
