The Weekend Series: five rosés under $25 (that are actually really good)

Ahh, rosé – is there anything it can’t do? It’s safe to say our love affair with the pink-hued drop isn’t waning any time soon, and why would it? This summertime staple is a perfect drink for the warmer months. If you want to impress your pals at your next picnic or soiree, we’ve rounded up five killer bottles of rosé that taste bloody amazing and won’t cost an arm and a leg – because we love to help you look fancy without hurting your wallet.

Sutton Grange Fairbank Rosé – $25
If you’re after a dry drop with a distinct Australian taste, the Sutton Grange Fairbank Rosé is an excellent choice. Perfumed aromas of strawberry and blood orange with savoury notes of fennel frond and thyme complement the wine’s stunning pale salmon hue. Drink this bad boy ice cold, savouring the full fruitiness with notes of cranberry and spice.
Luke Lambert Crudo Rosé – $23
If you’re not familiar with Luke Lambert, we suggest you acquaint yourself immediately via his absolutely top-shelf rosé. This young gun of the Yarra Valley knows a thing or two about making interesting drops, and this bottle of goodness is no exception – fermented in oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered, the end result is a natural blend with a little funk and chew. Trust us when we say this is one that needs to be on your list.

Save Our Souls Rosé – $21.99
Like your wine mysterious? The gang from Save Our Souls decided to mix things up a bit with their rosé, with a taste that is both unexpected and delicious. You can expect a soft and textured fruit flavour profile, boasting a taste that is juicy but very dry all at once – think less floral than a traditional rosé and instead more obscure notes like cantaloupe skin, bay leaf, plum and blueberry.

Unico Zelo Berry & Blossom Nebbiolo Rosato – $22
The Unico Zelo team is a growers’ co-operative from the Northern Adelaide Hills, so you know these people have got the goods when it comes to grapes. Mix that with talent and creativity and you get some damn delicious wines – like this rosato. A large part of this release comes from 25-year-old Dolcetto vines in the famous sub-region of Polish Hill River in the Clare Valley, making for a taste that is dry, tangy and loaded with pep.

Bondar Grenache Rosé – $24
Keep it fresh, fruity and festive with this Grenache rosé from Bondar. Made from the famed McLaren Vale, this pale and dry drop has been designed to enjoy in its youth – think bright, delicate and aromatic vibes. Flavours of rosewater and faint Turkisk delight make way for a nose of sweet spice, pomegranate and cranberry – you can taste the love and technique that has gone into this intricate blend.

Honourable mentions: Head Rosé ($24), Scarborough Offshoot Pinot Noir Rosé ($15.99), Spinifex Rosé ($24.29).
