Local gals Cheyenne Jarvis (CJ) and Britt Ayling opened Ground New Farm this week with warm and welcoming enthusiasm. The coffee shop has nestled in beneath the trees on Lamington Street, with CJ and Britt giving the space a fresh lick of paint and adding their creative personal touch. Looking to offer a point of difference to the area, the pair has enlisted the bean prowess of boutique Sydney roasters The Black Lab Coffee Co., Ground being only the second cafe serving The Black Lab in Brisbane. Ground’s wide coffee window is open for takeaways from 6:30 am – if coffee’s not your jam you can also grab the likes of chai and matcha lattes or refreshing Elemental cold-pressed juices – or you can take a moment (or 20) to sit down and order from the menu.
Ground’s food offering will be ever changing, evolving with the seasons and also to suit locals’ tastes. To start with, you’ll find the likes of smashed avocado served on Danny’s Bread sourdough, flaky prosciutto and Swiss cheese croissants, house-made chai tea bircher muesli, and pumpkin, fetta and pine nut quiche. Sweet options come with quite a decision – ‘treat your bod’ (raw treats from My Plate Clean Treats) or ‘treat yourself’ (a selection of muffins, pastries, cakes and more). Whichever path you choose to take, we’re sure you’ll end up satisfied.
