Sip (almost) guilt-free with HALO’s low-sugar, low-carb spiked kombucha

If you've grown a little bored of beer, can't be stuffed with cocktails and dare we say, even a touch weary of wine – there's a new player on the ready-to-drink beverage scene that's brewing up a refreshing alternative that is low is sugar, carbs and calories but high in taste – can you guess what it is? It's called HALO Alcoholic Kombucha and it's here to help you sip a little lighter.

By now, you’re probably well across ‘buch and its benefits but let’s just recap real quick for those who aren’t – kombucha is a fermented tea beverage that is packed full of gut-healing goodness including B vitamins, organic acids and antioxidants. Ordinarily, the process of fermentation rids the drink of all traces of booze (hence the reason it’s available freely in supermarkets) however the crafty chaps at New Wave Brewing Co have gone to great lengths to rethink the process and create a grown-up version with a little saucy kick. The resulting swill is totally organic with all-natural flavours and is low in calories, carbs and sugar (less than 0.1 gram) so it walks the line between health and happiness.

HALO Alcoholic Kombucha is currently available in two flavours – berry lime and lemon ginger, and is ready to drink straight-up from the can but is best served in a tall glass over ice with a wedge of lime. Unlike some others in the boozy ‘buch category, HALO’s creation isn’t brewed then mixed with a spirit – it’s brewed using a proprietary two-stage fermentation process and even though it’s not mandatory to include nutritional information on alcoholic beverages, HALO has nothing to hide and in fact, wants you to know exactly what you’re sipping. Keen to crack a tin? HALO Alcoholic Kombucha is available at selected BWS stores or if you’re staying in, the fine folk are slinging a sample pack, which includes four of each flavour, delivered to your door for $30. Keep your peepers peeled on the website in coming days for a list of venues where you’ll find HALO on tap and bring on summer sipping.
