Brisbane City joint Jee’s Burger proves you can’t beat a classic

As much as we love it when burgers are done up with fancy, gourmet ingredients, everyone knows that the burger is a dish best served simply. As long as the beef is of a high quality and the ingredients are fresh, we’re in for a good time. Simple burgers done well is one of the key focuses of new Brisbane City outlet Jee’s Burger, which is plating up American-style burgers, hand-cut chips and crispy Korean fried chicken that earn high marks in the satisfaction stakes.

It’s not often you see a top-flight chef hang up the apron in favour of manning a hot grill, but for Ricky Kim (formerly of Two Small Rooms) that’s exactly what he craved. Ricky decided to leave the fine-dining world behind, choosing instead to please the masses with his own burger spot where he could utilise the best ingredients to create a tasty and affordable product. Jee’s Burger settled neatly on Adelaide Street near 480 Queen in mid-January, quickly getting to work creating a concise menu of meaty eats that hit the spot.

Although small, the menu at Jee’s Burger has got a lot to love. If you crave a burger that lets its ingredients speak for itself, then you’ll really get a kick out of the classic, cheeseburger, beef and bacon, and cheese and bacon burgers – all available with either a single or double patty. The meat is sourced fresh, ground on site daily and shaped into juicy patties, which are then laid gently onto freshly baked buns. Good things come in pairs, which is why Ricky has incorporated a Korean-style fried chicken on the menu. If your curious about what makes Korean fried chicken different, the key is in the batter. Jee’s uses a thinner batter compared to the heavy, floury batter employed at fast-food joints, offering more tender morsels with tonnes of flavour. Rounding out the menu is a selection of hand-cut chips (which can come loaded with grass-fed beef, beans, chilli sauce and cheese) and decadent milkshakes made from real ice-cream, Hershey’s syrup, crushed Oreos, peanut butter or vanilla pods.

If the sound of all of the above has you salivating, hit Jee’s Burger in the Stumble Guide to get all the juicy details.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Brisbane dining guide with more than 2400 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
