Cure your Euro summer woes at Italian Riviera-inspired L’Americano

When it comes to covetable interiors, we go loco for Coco. No longer content sticking to top-tier furnishings, Coco Republic’s Fortitude Valley emporium is shaking up its offering, unveiling its new gallery of outdoor furniture as well as a striking new cafe space. The stylish old-world inspired corner eatery L’Americano is bringing a considered culinary offering to the table, with dishes that look as good as Coco Republic’s expertly decorated living spaces.

Decorative haven Coco Republic has been outfitting homes from its Wickham Street digs for years, but a few new changes have given the space a new lease on life. Following on from recent renovations to its top showroom, Coco Republic is now showing off a new-look interior on its ground floor. The main showroom has been given a cosmetic overhaul, encompassing fresh features such as new flooring, light fixtures, window treatments and a design lab for premium expert service. The venue’s rear loading bay has also been transformed into a gallery for outdoor furnishings, which has proven to be a major area of interest for those looking to spruce their exterior spaces. Most impressively, the Coco Republic team has revamped a corner pocket of its old showroom to implement new cafe concept L’Americano – an impressive eatery operated on a day-to-day basis by hospitality group The Fresh Collective.

L’Americano first debuted at Coco Republic’s Alexandria store, boasting a conceptual vision put forth by creative director Anthony Spon-Smith. Both locations are inspired by The Talented Mr. Ripley and its gorgeous Italian setting, but where Alexandria’s fit-out was inspired by the character Dickie Greenleaf – all brass finishes, dark mahogany and masculine tones – Fortitude Valley’s larger space takes inspiration from Marge Sherwood. A lighter and airier aesthetic has been implemented, with marble details, white banquet seating, miniature decorative riverboats and a sophisticated Italian Riviera theme creating a glamorous space to inhabit. L’Americano services the busy commuter crowd with express cabinet options and takeaway Vittoria coffee, while those exploring the showroom can mull over their potential purchase with sit-down fare. The menu offers light bites including prosciutto and avocado toast, as well as an egg-centric dish selection that pairs soft-boiled eggs with the likes of avocado and faro mash, smoked ocean trout, and roasted eggplant. Lunch showcases a selection of crostini, antipasti, salads, tramezzini sandwiches and sweets, while the bar moves to serve up Italian beer, classic cocktails, French rosé and champagne.

L’Americano is now open. For operating hours and contact details, head to the Stumble Guide.
