Gorge on some inventive treats from Graceville’s Lick! Ice Cream

As one of the most highly anticipated openings in Brisbane’s dessert scene in recent memory, Lick! Ice Cream has made good on the promise of a creamery of its own by setting up shop on Graceville’s Honour Avenue.

Grant Lew has been creating some of Brisbane’s best ice-cream for 11 years, selling Lick! Ice Cream far and wide as a wholesale distributor. He is also responsible for the iconic strawberry ice-cream available every year at the Ekka, which draws hoards of ravenous dessert hunters from across the state. As summer fast approaches, Grant has opened a Lick! Ice Cream store in the heart of Graceville, across the road from the train station and a short stroll from cinemas, cafes and restaurants. The space has been overhauled with top-of-the-line freezers, crisp furnishings, a brand new coffee machine and is now stocked to the brim with ice-cream, desserts, shakes and much more.

The large ice-cream freezer holds up to 18 flavours at any one time, with varieties constantly rotating. Each flavour is made from seasonal and natural ingredients, with every concoction matching up exactly with its description. Inventive combinations such as caramelised miso, popcorn and Stradbroke honey, couverture dark chocolate, Turkish apple tea sorbet and mandarin and mint sorbet are available to provide a refreshing hit in the warmer months, with specialty flavours such as Suttons Spiced Apple Cider – using apples sourced from Stanthorpe – only available at Lick! Also on offer is a range of signature desserts such as the truly decadent Doffles (a doughnut and waffle hybrid), the Lick! Ice Cream sandwich, a banana split with sugar torched bananas and apple pie with some added Suttons Spiced Apple Cider ice-cream for good measure. Grant has also concocted a range of ice-cream spiders and milk shakes, plus Pink Lady apple juice and fresh fruit frappes. Lick! Ice Cream will be open late several nights of the week for those looking for a sweet treat after a movie or dinner date, with Toby’s Estate coffee available for anyone needing a bit of a pick-me-up.
