If there’s anyone that knows the ebbs and flows of Paddington, it’s Adam Barrack, The seasoned hospitality vet (owner of Peasant and Los Villanos) has, until recently, been on the hunt for a spacious spot on the other side of Suncorp Stadium where he could install his fresh concept Little Social – part comfy hangout spot, part bar. Adam struck gold when the opportunity to take over the former home of Yard Bird Paddington arose, and after getting his hands on the space he immediately set about stripping away the dark and sombre tones in favour of a brighter palette that evoked the homey, Queenslander vibe Adam envisioned. Vines were hacked away to reveal the deck’s retractable roof, the kitchen was pushed further to the back to make room for more interior dining space, Drapl was recruited to add a mural inside and the bar was spruced up with eye-catching teal tiling. The end result makes Little Social feel like you’re hanging out at a mate’s place, perfect for kicking back and catching up.

Building on Little Social’s unhurried atmosphere, the menu focuses on plates suitable for grazing at your leisure. Patrons can fill their table with charcuterie boards and charmingly mismatched plates loaded with the likes of truffled pea and chorizo croquettes, sand crab corn fritters and maple and roast garlic crispy chicken wings. If you’re not up for sharing, the kitchen also serves up sizeable mains including lamb shanks, sticky barbecue pork spare ribs, roasted pumpkin moussaka and sliders. Adam and his team have curated a quality assortment of wines, with a selection of more than 40 bottles encompassing Australia’s finest regions, as well as choice drops from further abroad. An eight-font system has been installed at the bar, with five taps dedicated to interesting craft beers and three given over to cider, Pimm’s and batch-brewed sangria. If a stronger sip is what you’re after, you’ve got eight classic cocktails to choose from as well as a gin-heavy selection of craft spirits.
