Main Street Market brings covetable cronuts and super shakes to South Bank

It doesn’t matter what the mercury says, it’s sweet season all year round. The team behind popular South Bank pop-ups such as Pig & Kraut and Tapi have struck gold once again with their latest vision. Main Street Market is a cheeky and charming kiosk dispensing cronuts, milkshakes and frappes to Parkland wanderers.

For Suzanne and Brett Lang, South Bank’s Parklands have proven to be fertile ground for their food concept seedlings to take root. From The wurst-centric offering at Pig & Kraut to the Taiwanese bubble tea dispensary Tapi, the duo have been fortunate enough to experiment with exciting ideas from within their cosy kiosk. For the duo’s latest project, they decided against over thinking things, choosing to go back to their roots for their inspiration and creating a vibe that was part casual market stall and part homely coffee nook. The resulting hub Main Street Market also takes a few cues from the couple’s time in America, where a nearby doughnut joint kept things simple with its two core offerings – good doughnuts and coffee.

Main Street Market is deviating slightly from the two-pronged formula, ticking the boxes in the doughnut and coffee columns, but boosting it with a range of shakes and frappes. Main Street Market’s baker Simon makes the range of doughnuts available, with classic ring, filled, mini filled doughnut holes and cronuts available in a range of flavours. From Nutella, salted caramel and double espresso to vanilla slice, the treats here look to be just the ticket for those eager for a hit of sweetness. If you’re after more, Main Street Market also serves a selection of classic milkshakes and special choc milkshakes, which see the likes of Mars, Bounty or Snickers blended up in the mix. The frappes are infused with coffee syrup made on site, but those that just want a damn good latte will be pleased to know that Main Street Market has gone with award-winning roaster Bellissimo for its coffee of choice.

Main Street Market is now open. For operating hours and more details, click over to the Stumble Guide.
