Bleary-eyed commuters that often trudge through the Brisbane Transit Centre on Roma Street will likely be familiar with Andrea Cook. In March 2018 Andrea opened cosy coffee nook Fifty Fifty Coffee Co. near the George Street overpass, quickly becoming a popular pit stop for those needing a pick-me-up jolt before work. Despite a strong start, the June 2018 announcement of Brisbane Transit Centre’s scheduled demolition to make way for Brisbane Live threw a spanner in the works for Andrea, who realised she’d soon need to relocate. Brisbane City’s loss is Newstead’s gain, as Andrea quickly found a new spot to set up shop on Masters Street. A poky concrete shell has been transformed to create a bright and charming coffee spot, boasting recycled Fifty Fifty furnishings and a slick new fit-out from Woodsters.
For Masters St. Coffee, Andrea is sticking to the specialty coffee focus fans of Fifty Fifty will already be familiar with. Andrea has retained Single O as the bean of choice for Masters St. Coffee’s milk-based brews, but fans of black coffee will be able to sip on pours using Reuben Hills. Feature roasts will also pop in and out of the rotation over time. Batch brew is still available, while Andrea is also adding V60 pour-over to the menu. Tasty treats are on offer as well, from coveted Butterbing cookies to pastries from Danny’s Bread and some sweet things from Alphabet Cafe.
Masters St. Coffee is open from today, Friday April 5. Get all the extra details you need in the Stumble Guide.
