Miss Bliss Whole Foods Kitchen opens in West End

You may have already sampled one of her delicious Miss Bliss Treats from your favourite cafe, but now Jacqui Toumbas has opened up shop in West End serving up a range of wholesome goodies at Miss Bliss Whole Foods Kitchen.

Miss Bliss Treats started less than two years ago when Jacqui, who is a qualified nutritionist, started posting recipes on her health blog. After noticing how much love her Bliss Balls were receiving, Jacqui decided to start crafting the treats to sell, now stocked in more than 20 cafes across Brisbane. The next step for Jacqui was Miss Bliss Whole Foods Kitchen, a bright and airy space on West End’s Vulture Street. Miss Bliss has taken over the old Andy’s Fruit Market space, which is where Jacqui’s grandfather, Andy and their friends have hung out daily for the last 45 years. Understanding the significance of the space to both her family and the community, Jacqui has approached the new fit-out with great respect, transforming it into a fresh open space filled with light and brimming with greenery, but hinting at the building’s history by maintaining its original wooden beams and dotting the cafe with images of its previous life. There is even a space looking over the rear courtyard dedicated to hosting the Greek gents, ensuring they still have a place to gather each day.

In addition to Jacqui’s famed Bliss Balls and raw treats, Miss Bliss Whole Foods Kitchen serves up breakfast, lunch and takeaway delights. George Diacos heads up the kitchen, working closely with Jacqui to create a menu of nutritious-yet-delicious meals. Dishes are unprocessed and refined-sugar and additive free, and use local and organic produce wherever possible. At the counter you’ll find a range of takeaway options, including seasonal salads, chia pots and snack packs. If you prefer to dine in, the all-day menu features ‘toast ‘n’ toppings’, Bliss Bowls (acai or the Not So Nutella bowl with acai berries, cacao, banana, almond milk, choc bukinis and hazelnuts), smoothies and a selection of larger meals. You can start the day on the right note with options such as the Savoury Bliss Bowl with seasonal roast vegetables, quinoa, a gooey egg, house-made pesto and parmesan, or the MB Breakfast with gooey eggs, avocado, organic chicken herbed sausages, crispy speck, sauteed greens, shrivelled tomatoes, sweet potato chips and your choice of bread.
