Susan and Andrew – the terrific tandem behind Mission Vietnamese at Coorparoo Square – cut their teeth in Brisbane’s hospitality scene dispensing Japanese cuisine. While initially content with sushi and gyoza as their specialties, a visit to Vietnam introduced them to a whole other side to Asian cuisine. Susan and Andrew met Mama – an experienced Vietnamese chef – who agreed to come on board and help realise the vision of a Vietnamese eatery that had a great balance of flavours and a selection of quick-and-casual snacks and considered dine-in options. Mission Vietnamese is situated between Junk and the forthcoming Special Rub, with ample seating available in Coorparoo Square’s central promenade and inside the venue itself.

When it comes to dining, the first question you need to ask yourself is, are you in a hurry? If the answer is yes, direct your eyes to Mission’s starters, where the likes of chicken spring rolls, steamed pork dim sims, chicken wings, crackling pork rice paper rolls and salt and pepper calamari can be found. These quick snacks are perfect for taking away and eating on the go. If you are seeking something more substantial, fan favourites such as vermicelli noodle salads, banh mi baguettes, curries, stir-fry dishes and rice-based dishes are available. If you want to try something special, we’ve been told that the special pho – with broth brewed over a 48-hour period – and the slow-cooked pork buns are well worth a sample. Mission Vietnamese is fully licensed, meaning that your order can be washed down with the likes of sake mojitos, beers, sparking wine and more.
