Happiness in a can – Mr Black unveils a ready-to-drink espresso martini

RTDs, or ready-to-drink beverages, generally get a pretty bad wrap. Mostly sickly sweet or too basic, they rarely taste anything like the analogue version they are supposed to. Until now. After three (long) years of research and development, the legendary Mr Black Espresso Martini team has unveiled a 200-ml can to shake up and enjoy anywhere. Made using top-grade arabica coffee, pure Australian vodka, and a generous splash of Mr Black Coffee Liqueur (obviously), the new ready-to-drink offering means you never have to endure a mediocre espresso martini ever again. We'll cheers to that.

If you prefer your coffee a little Irished-up, Mr Black is here to spice up your afternoons and evenings with its brand-new canned cocktail. With just a simple shake, you can sip the perfect espresso martini in seconds – no more measuring, pouring and shaking until your arm feels like it’s going to fall off. Sip straight from the tin or get a little fancy and pour into a cocktail coupe – it’s your call. One thing that isn’t up for negotiation though is the shower of praise you’re bound to receive from friends and family in awe of your mixology skills.

Widely adored for their exceptional coffee liqueur, the Mr Black team wasn’t going to settle for anything less when it came to their RTD enterprise. In fact, they tried 156 different recipes, two production methods, and three canning technologies to create the final cocktail. Crafted by Mr Black’s expert roasters and distillers on the NSW Central Coast, the final blend uses specialty-grade medium and light roast coffee from Colombia and Ethiopia, and is charged with nitrogen. Give the can a good shake and it pours like a classic espresso martini, complete with a smooth, foamy head.

Mr Black Espresso Martini is the ultimate after-work tipple, dinner party bevvie and esky essential and will be available nationally in Liquorland, First Choice, BWS, Dan Murphy’s and Vintage Cellars stores from October 1. It is also available from leading independent retailers. A four-pack will set you back $34.99.
