The Weekend Edition - Sleep In. Slow Down. Enjoy.

Bite into a juicy tomato from Noosa Reds Vine Ripened Tomatoes

Bite into a juicy tomato from Noosa Reds Vine Ripened Tomatoes

The greenhouses at Noosa Reds Vine Ripened Tomatoes are lined with juicy red tomatoes hanging like jewels on the vines of the vibrant green tomato plants. The burst of flavour as you bite through the warm skin of a freshly harvested tomato is unlike any other experience.

Peter Ceghers was literally born in a tomato greenhouse in Belgium. He is a third-generation tomato farmer with vast experience introducing hydroponics and greenhouses to tomato farms across Belgium, New Zealand, South Australia and now Queensland. With all his experience, Peter now returns to the joys of growing on his own tomato farm, Noosa Reds Vine Ripened Tomatoes.

Peter does not grow for supermarkets but instead prefers to supply his produce, freshly harvested, to selected restaurants and direct to customers at the markets. Attending Carseldine Farmers and Artisan Market, Red Hill Farmers Market, Mitchelton Farmers Market, Powerhouse Farmers Market and Manly Farmers Market, Peter loves the direct interaction with his customers. He utilises his experience in hydroponics to produce a crop that is less prone to disease, uses less water per square metre as well as using less fertiliser and labour.

Stop by Noosa Reds at your local market this weekend and try spray-free Noosa Red specialty purple tomatoes, yellow and red mini-plums (an Italian tomato), zebra tomatoes (a hybrid variety from South America) as well as vine-ripened truss tomatoes and red cherry tomatoes loose or on the vine.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Brisbane dining guide with more than 2400 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
