The Bavarian Caxton Street
Proving that there is no limit to the amount of schnitzels and steins Brisbane folk can handle, Rockpool Dining Group is further satiating the city’s demand for German fare with another location for its hugely popular concept The Bavarian. The Barracks on Petrie Terrace will be the home of the newbie, which is taking over the site recently vacated by Hog’s Breath Cafe. This two-level premises (Rockpool Group’s ninth Bavarian concept in Queensland) will reportedly be able to host 600 punters across a mix of inside, outside covered and outside beer garden seating. Much like its sibling locations, the menu at The Bavarian will feature all the recognisable signatures, from sausages and schnitzels to pork knuckles and giant pretzels, as well as a bar pouring dozens of beers off tap. In addition to the bites and brews, The Bavarian Caxton Street will boast numerous television screens displaying an assortment of sporting fixtures, which is great news for those that miss out on tickets to big games at Suncorp Stadium down the road. Foresters Restaurant and Bar
Fortitude Valley is set to score a jaw-dropping marquee dining and nightlife destination in June when Foresters Restaurant and Bar opens at the base of the FV by Peppers building on Alfred Street. The brainchild of property developer Tim Gurner and Signature Hospitality Group, the project is taking over Foresters Hall – a stunning structure built in 1889 – and will be installing the 300-seat bar and restaurant as well as a luxe open-air rooftop party spot called Altitude at Foresters. Chef Peter Popow will helm the kitchen at Foresters Restaurant and Bar, which will reportedly offer classic Australian favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while Altitude will be the spot to score cocktails, bar snacks and breezy vibes. Word is the venue is aiming for a mid-June launch – keep your eyes peeled for more!
The Fortitude Music Hall’s official opening party
Every time we cruise down the Brunswick Street Mall, we crane our necks to see if we can get a glimpse inside the hoarding surrounding forthcoming entertainment hub The Fortitude Music Hall to no avail. In good news for live-music diehards, the venue has finally announced the date of its official opening party – Friday July 26. Construction is nearing completion for the ballroom-meets-theatre venue, which has been drip-feeding post-opening gig announcements over the past couple of months. The launch celebrations will include a who’s who of Brisbane music elite, with scheduled performances from the likes of Ball Park Music, DZ Deathrays and Tia Gostelow, as well as special appearances from Powderfinger alumni Bernard Fanning and Ian Haug, Patience Hodgson from The Grates, Thelma Plum, Custard’s Dave McCormack, Busby Marou, Jeremy Neale, and Sahara Beck. Le Bon Bar and C’est Bon’s rooftop terrace
Woollongabba’s long-running French restaurant and wine bar C’est Bon is currently undergoing some exciting changes. The venue’s owners Celine Damour and Peter Roelfes are building on the 2018 arrival of the venue’s wine-bar extension with some more additions – namely some renovations of the restaurant and wine-bar space, a brand-new cellar room and private dining space, as well as a garden dining area and rooftop terrace. C’est Bon’s wine bar will transform to become Le Bon Bar, pivoting its offering to include French and Australian classics for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as some creative share plates. The rooftop terrace will operate as a chic outdoor lounge and dining area where guests will be able to drink in the surrounding view, while sampling tasty delights from Le Bon Bar’s menu. C’est Bon is expected to re-open in July.
Das Haus Cafe & Bar
Those of you that call Hamilton home will soon have another watering hole to call your own when Das Haus Cafe & Bar opens in the coming weeks. The venue – opening in early June – will boast a craft beer and cocktail focus, and will also serve up fare with a slight German spin. During the day, Das Haus will dish out the likes of bone-warming jaffles, pretzels and Merlo coffee, while a menu of bar snacks and finger food will come into play as the day progresses. Red Fish Blue Fish Dinner with Philip Johnson
Red Fish Blue Fish isn’t just an alarmingly catchy Dr. Seuss adage – it’s also the name of one of the hottest new dining series in Brisbane. After making a splash with their first guest-chef-helmed dinner last month, the team from One Fish Two Fish is at it again, this time inviting culinary royalty Philip Johnson to the kitchen. Philip will be bringing his years of expertise from e’cco bistro to collaborate with One Fish Two Fish’s head chef Daniel Miletic, creating a coastal European feast that will have your mouth watering. The one-off dinner will bring together three shared courses showcasing the likes of local spanner crab linguine, razor prawn ravioli, braised blue-eye trevalla and more, with the option to add paired beverages for a little extra.
