Pavement Whispers: Volume 96 November 1

From whispers of ramen bars to eat-your-way food trails, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest news in Brisbane, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …

Miso Hapi
When there is ramen before us, we really are so happy. So news of a new sushi and ramen bar in West End has got us wriggling in our swivel chairs with joy. Miso Hapi is due to open on Boundary Street in three weeks, taking over the site previously occupied by The Forest Vegan Cafe. The retro-style Japanese eatery will focus predominantly on sushi and ramen, and you will be able to takeaway or dine in with a cold beer in hand. Miso Hapi will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week – we’ll have more details for you soon.

Burger Time 69
Over on Oxford Street in Bulimba, the Miso Hapi team is also gearing up to open Burger Time 69 in two-and-a-half weeks. American street eats will be the focus here, with bites such as burgers, tacos and fries paired with American beers and classic milkshakes. Burger Time 69 will mainly offer takeaway and delivery options, however diners will have the option to chow down in the outdoor area if they can’t simply wait to get home. We’ll keep you posted!

Master Tom’s
Speaking of American influences, we’ve just heard whispers of a new contemporary Californian-inspired eatery set to open in Brisbane City before the festival season kicks off. Master Tom’s is taking over the former The Coffee Club site on the corner of Albert and Margaret Streets, and will offer coffee, sandwiches, burgers and beer on tap. Design studio Collectivus has created the brand and interior, which will feature cabana-style seating nooks, timber and mosaic features, and lush greenery set against a fresh white, aqua and cerulean colour scheme.

Luigi’s Italian
Holloway Eyewear’s design studio on Hardgrave Road has long harboured Pizzartist, one of Brisbane’s most cherished Italian eateries. Looking to shake things up and fully realise the venue’s potential, Holloway’s Raffaele Perischetti has overhauled the menu and vibe to create Luigi’s Italian. Named after Raffaele’s paternal grandfather, Luigi’s Italian blends classic offerings with a neo-Italian twist – offering tastes familiar to Australian palettes while still remaining true to the old-school flair of traditional Italian eateries. Instead of Pizzartist’s constantly rotating menu, Luigi’s Italian boasts a fixed offering featuring family recipes and some new modifications. Assorted pasta dishes, salads, meatballs, desserts and weekly specials bolster an already impressive range of pizzas, while diners can sip on a selection of Italian and Greek wines, craft beer and cocktails. More Luigi’s locations are set to open in the future – we’ll let you know once we know more!

Sunnybank $2 Food Trail
Get your stretchy pants at the ready friends – the Sunnybank $2 Food Trail Summer Edition is almost here! Saturday November 12 will see Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park shopping centres once again transform into a roaming Asian smorgasbord, showcasing more than 40 vendors across the precinct. The choose-your-own-adventure style trail allows you to sample the flavours of China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and more, with each dish only $2. This summer’s program has expanded, now including six different curated mini tasting trails to choose from, including the Yum Cha Trail, Vegetarian Trail and Sweet Tooth Trail.
