Walking in the footsteps of its older sibling Pawpaw in Woolloongabba, Pawpaw Asian Kitchen brings Southeast Asian street food to Tingalpa, in that distinct Venzin Group style. If you blink on your search for Pawpaw you might miss it – the eatery sits within suburban strip mall Twin Parks Shopping Centre on Wynnum Road, well worth discovering amongst the neighbouring laundromat and dentist. A vibrant green mural and hanging green pots welcome in passers-by, not to mention the tantalising scent of Asian delights wafting through the air.
Many of the Pawpaw and Mons Ban Sabai favourites feature on the menu in Tingalpa, with flavours spanning across Thai, Indonesian and Vietnamese dishes. Start your Asian feast with the likes of steamed bao, chilli popcorn chicken and lamb curry puffs, then select from mains of noodles, wok dishes, salads and curries for some heartier fare. We hear the tamarind fish, wagyu green curry, roti canai and Isan Crying Tiger salad are crowd favourites. While you can dine in at Pawpaw Asian Kitchen (it’s BYO as well), the primary focus here is take-away and delivery, and the group is in the process of creating an app for Pawpaw, Mons Ban Sabai and Pawpaw Asian Kitchen that will allow users to select the restaurant closest to them to order.
Pawpaw Asian Kitchen is open for dinner seven nights, and will start serving lunches Monday to Friday as of Monday March 27. If you’re ready to get your curry on, head to our Stumble Guide for Pawpaw Asian Kitchen’s opening hours and contact details.
