Rico Bar & Dining set to make its mark on Eagle Street Pier

Earlier this year, acclaimed fine-dining institution Aria officially shuttered after ten years of operation. After diners came to terms with the closure, much discussion has erupted over what will take over Aria's prime location at Eagle Street Pier. We can reveal that the space will soon be home to Rico Bar & Dining – a multi-faceted eatery from the crew behind George's Paragon Seafood Restaurant and Massimo Restaurant & Bar. Want to know more? Read on ...

It’s a tall order stepping into the shoes of the dearly departed Aria, but if any operator has the chops to pull it off, it’s Michael Tassis. The restaurateur behind Eagle Street Pier mainstay George’s Paragon and riverside newcomer Massimo Restaurant & Bar is in the process of transforming the vacant venue into Rico Bar & Dining – a culinary concept that will reportedly deliver a fusion of Australian, Spanish and Latin flavours. Dexus has revealed some key details of the bar and eatery, which is on track for an October opening. Brisbane-based collective Clui Design (the team behind Massimo’s pristine fit-out) and local construction company Tonic Projects have been engaged to craft the venue’s interior, which The Courier-Mail has reported will be reminiscent of a “light, bright, multi-level, indoor-outdoor eatery with seating for 260”.

Rico (translated from Spanish to mean ‘delicious’) will look to offer a modern, vibrant and affordable experience for diners, with a broad appeal targeting everyone from inner-city workers to residents and tourists. The fare will feature the likes of freshly shucked oysters, delicious chargrilled meats and seafood, with an a la carte service, banquet feasts and tapas menu catering for all hunger levels. Stay tuned for more details on Rico Bar & Dining as October approaches.
