Woolloongabba welcomes Ristorante La Famiglia to its dining family

Opening tonight, Ristorante La Famiglia is the second eatery to arrive at the new Trafalgar Lane development, offering hearty and authentic Italian dishes and enough wine to float a boat.

In Italy, food and family are so equally important they are almost synonymous. Two things that bring so much joy and comfort should be celebrated, which is why Italian cuisine offers some of the most heart-warming and belly filling meals in the world. Cosimo and Deborah de Nichilo agree wholeheartedly, which is why they tapped into Cosimo’s Italian roots and the idea of a welcoming family-friendly venue when opening Ristorante La Famiglia in the new Trafalgar Lane building in Woolloongabba. After closing up their first venture (the super popular Couture Cupcakes) to start a family, Cos and Deb jumped on the opportunity to be a part of the Trafalgar Lane development and get back in the food game with some sublime Italian fare accessible for all. The space evokes the rustic charm of quintessential Italian eateries and homes – exposed brick, herb planters and a large wall display of Duomo di San Corrado from Cosimo’s hometown of Molfetta give off a warm vibe to diners.

Ristorante La Famiglia’s menu continues the warm familial theme and offers an extensive selection of hearty assaggini (share plates), pasta, secondi and contorini (sides). Groups can share dishes such as involtini di melanzane (rolled eggplant stuffed with mince and cheese), Nonna’s special meatballs, house-made focaccia, cured meats or fresh oysters. If hunger strikes, a serve of slow-cooked beef ragu, lasagne della mamma or oven-roasted pork belly will do the trick. The back bar boasts a wall filled with Italian, French and Australian wine, while tap beer and ginger beer from Fortitude Brewing is available alongside Ristorante La Famiglia’s own brew.
