From the farm to the city – newly launched Scenic Rim Farm Box brings the best local produce to your door

If you (and your tastebuds) have missed escaping from the city and hitting the road to explore the Scenic Rim's renowned local flavours, friendly farms, wineries and boutique breweries, there's now a way to enjoy the best bits and bites of the region's food bowl without leaving your home. A group of local producers, supported by the Scenic Rim Regional Council, have recently launched Scenic Rim Farm Boxes – a new food-delivery service that brings the best farm-fresh produce straight to your door.

With so many of us dreading trips to the supermarket, this new initiative will enable Brisbane folk to fill up their fridges and pantries with produce, products, wine and beer – all grown and made in the Scenic Rim – and have it delivered to their homes with just a few quick clicks. Plus, there’s the added bonus of knowing your weekly grocery spend is going straight to local businesses when they need it most. The new Scenic Rim Farm Box concept initially sprouted in a bid to fill the gap left by the Scenic Rim Eat Local Week, which obviously couldn’t go ahead in its usual format this year. With that in mind, local producers, farmers and suppliers banded together to launch the service so they could still put their seasonal products in front of city-based consumers and, in turn, provide the community with a platform to easily access fresh, healthy food for their households.

Right now, locals are encouraged to register their interest for the Scenic Rim Farm Boxes on the website (do it now!) to receive information on how to order when it all goes live, which will be very, very soon. The first boxes are set to be delivered in early May across Brisbane, with other delivery areas to be prioritised by interest. Once it’s all up and running online, you’ll be able to choose exactly what you want in your box so you can plan your weekly meals and pile up your plates with delicious locally grown and made produce. While we may not be able to visit the Scenic Rim right now, it’s coming to us instead – and in the most convenient and delicious way possible! We hear the boxes have been extremely popular in the last few days, so get a wriggle on and register your interest.
