Cheers to South Bank – eat, drink and picnic to your heart’s content at the riverside precinct

Brisbane is back and thriving and so is our insatiable thirst for fun! Ready to welcome back visitors, Brisbane's dining and cultural hotspot South Bank is waiting for you with idyllic river views to bask in, world-class waterfront restaurants to dine in, bars to hop from and plenty of green space to play. To celebrate life starting to return to (new) normal, South Bank is welcoming us back with delicious dining offers, family-friendly fun and charming facilities. So pack a picnic basket, make a dinner reservation and raise a glass – it's time to get out and about and rediscover this vibrant riverside precinct.

With more than 50 restaurants now open at South Bank, there’s plenty of options to indulge in including sumptuous seafood fare, tantalising tapas, flavourful bar bites and dessert delights. Start your South Bank dining journey with a pit stop at Mucho Mexicano for all-you-can-eat Taco Tuesdays – think delicious flavour combinations like chargrilled chicken, braised wagyu beef, crispy pork belly, smoky chorizo and roasted butternut pumpkin – or head on over to the burger-making legends at Brooklyn Depot to experience the mouth-watering line-up of weekly specials – $1 chicken wings, anyone? If cocktails are on the cards, sip on a Turkish Delight Martini and score $10 pides from authentic Turkish eats haven Ahmet’s or for some dessert, head to Happy Pops to nab some decadent gelato treats.

Want to enjoy Brisbane’s enviable winter weather in the sunshine? South Bank’s picturesque (and licensed) picnic areas have also reopened for you to enjoy – plus many eateries are still offering takeaway delights. Roll out a rug and tuck into The Jetty’s delectable $45 picnic hamper full of cheese, bread, meats, hummus and sweetcorn fritters, River Quay Fish’s picnic packages of fresh seafood (including panko-crumbed calamari, prawns, fish and chips) starting at $40, or Baba Ganouj’s $80 takeaway platter for two, filled with Lebanese eats accompanied by a bottle of crisp wine. Pair your spread with a feast for the eyes and take in the city skyline and river views at River Quay Green, Riverside Green or Picnic Island Green. Plus, these spots are designated wet areas – meaning adults can dine and wine from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm with their picnic nosh. If you’re searching for a quieter spot, spread out beneath the shady trees on the Rainforest Green or the Liana Lounge. For easy access to the precinct’s top-notch restaurants, Little Stanley Street Lawns are the perfect spot or for some family-friendly fun in the sun, Brisbane’s very-own oceanic oasis Street Beach and its sparkling blue lagoon the Boat Pool have now reopened too. Just don’t forget the towels!

Ready to celebrate the end of iso with your family and mates? South Bank is giving you the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience for you and five of your friends. This VIP dinner includes an exclusive ‘can’t book’ table at South Bank’s River Quay, a dinner full of flavoursome eats from your choice of River Quay’s premiere restaurants and jam-packed goodie bags to take home. To win the ultimate South Bank dining experience, head here and fill in your details – fingers crossed!
