BrewDog’s limited-edition Street Dog Punk IPA is helping save homeless Queensland dogs

In the wise words of Ricky Gervais: "Dogs make me happy. Beer makes me happy. A beer that saves dogs makes me very happy." Mate, we couldn’t agree more.

The fortuitous collaboration between Scotland’s BrewDog and dog-related charities may have originally been inspired by the British comedian and his social media shout-out to the craft-beer institution, but the Street Dog Punk IPA appeal has now taken on a life of its own. Following a successful run in the UK – which saw every single dog that appeared on the beer cans rehomed – the campaign has now arrived in Australia, with the Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) at the helm. For a limited time, each can of the iconic Street Punk IPA will feature a homeless dog who desperately needs to find a forever home. Furthermore, 100 percent of the profits from the beer will go to the AWLQ to continue its excellent work.

Since launching in 1959, AWLQ has rehomed more than 168,000 pets and saved thousands more through community support programs – and now with the support of BrewDog, 2020 is looking more positive for the homeless dogs in our state. It’s hoped that showcasing the profiles of these furry little mates will increase their chances of adoption before Christmas. The campaign launched in late October and will continue until all cans of the Brisbane-brewed special release are sold out. Check out the brewery’s new online store to purchase an eight- or 16-pack of 375 ml cans.
