Portside Wharf’s newest resident is looking to change the game for Brisbane sports bars. The Ballpark opened its doors last week, revealing a home run of a design. Kitted out with three Australian-first baseball batting cage simulators, pool tables, premium dart boards and screens to catch local and international fixtures, The Ballpark beckons Brisbane sports lovers for a one-of-a-kind experience that’s bound to hit it out of the park.

The latest concept to open as part of Portside Wharf’s ongoing revitalisation is offering guests a new destination to channel all of their sporting enthusiasm and even take the field themselves. The Ballpark gives Brisbane-based Major League lovers the rare chance to play a fierce game of baseball from the heart of Hamilton – all while enjoying a stacked menu of brews and bites.

The unique bar concept was dreamed up by three friends and avid sports fans Ashley Johnson, Ben Holcroft and Jack Jones, who sought to create a space that would champion the energy and excitement of sport that the trio cherish so much. “The Ballpark will be a community hub where fans, friends and families come together to celebrate the love of sports and good times,” shares Ashley.

Whilst naturally an ode to Australia’s classic sports pub culture, The Ballpark has taken an American inflection. Designed around a suite of digital batting cages, the new bar is aptly named, providing a literal ballpark for baseball fans. The Australian-first simulators invite patrons up to the plate and swing to the fences whilst competing against friends or snagging some solo practice. The Ballpark has also partnered with its neighbouring burger outpost Dumbo to bring patrons a mouth-watering menu of Americana-inspired fare that perfectly pairs with a few rounds of friendly competition.

Beyond the bar room, pool tables and screens, the venue is also home to an interactive 76” screen for corporate bookings as well. With a diverse range of event and special occasion packages, The Ballpark is perfect for groups. Over the coming months, The Ballpark will play host to themed nights including a baseball night planned for September where patrons are invited to wear their favourite team jersey for entry. The new venue joins Brisbane’s growing list of experience-based venues, adding an exciting new element to your next night out.
