Eat with your eyes at The Happy Veg

Every time you buy organic produce, you are persuading more farmers and market stalls as well as the major supermarkets to grow and supply organic produce, increasing supply and reducing prices. Win win!

Christine Reid from The Happy Veg is a passionate believer in the power of fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Having previously built a career in the corporate world, Christine discovered the potential of being vegan to improve her health and consequently moved into the produce market scene. Having experienced a complete change to her health by eating quality fruit and vegetables, Christine wanted to make such goodness available to the public. Now The Happy Veg is a regular at the Carseldine Farmers and Artisan Markets and Red Hill Farmers Markets (waiting with bated breath for the announcement of its new location). The Happy Veg will also be a regular at the new Moo and Glue Carina Farmers, Craft and Boutique Market starting on Sunday January 31.

The Happy Veg produce is organic, spray-free and local, sourced direct from selected farmers in the Lockyer Valley, the Sunshine Coast and even one from South Brisbane. The produce is seasonal, with Christine currently supplying zucchini, cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, snake beans, okra, Asian vegetables and kale. On the fruit side, bananas, melons, starfruit, jackfruit, green grapes and oranges are currently in season with new pineapples coming next month.

Christine’s mantra is that ‘we eat with our eyes’ and just like a sweet or cake stall, buying fruit and vegetables should be a visually enjoyable experience. With this in mind, The Happy Veg stall’s produce is beautifully displayed in cane baskets on hessian-covered tables and is a pleasure to visit.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Brisbane dining guide with more than 2400 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
