The Coats Group has been very busy in 2017, following up its rebranding of The Jetty Bulimba to Il Molo with a sprucing of The Jetty South Bank – just in time for the seasonal change. Seeking to update the venue to make it more approachable for foot traffic and spontaneous diners, Jason and Katie Coats sought to make a few changes that take full advantage of its riverfront location and to also get back to the venue’s Vietnamese roots. Renovations took place over two weeks, installing a new monochromatic bar at the front of the venue and installing new booth dining in the rear to ensure that The Jetty had more of a visual presence on River Quay, while also adding a private dining space for intimate functions.
Renovations aren’t the only changes at The Jetty South Bank, with a new menu offering a range of Asian-inspired tastes – predominantly gluten free and summer-appropriate dishes. The venue’s range of seafood morsels and burgers remain, but are joined by the likes of The Jetty’s papaya salad that can be upgraded with the likes of lemongrass chicken, crispy fried squid and tempura soft-shell crab, and beef cheek pho with soft noodles, bean shoots and pink shallots. Nothing says summer like cocktails, and The Jetty’s list of concoctions has also undergone an overhaul. Split the Boathouse Punch with some friends, which mixes elderflower liqueur, gin, Aperol, lemon, orange, grapefruit juice and sparkling rose, or share a Pimms jug or a carafe of Jetty sangria – there’s no wrong choice. Those of you that have sought fruitlessly for barista-made coffee along the river in the morning will be buzzing to know that The Jetty South Bank now serves takeaway coffee from 7:00 am alongside a small selection of pastries and banana bread.
