When Chanel White took over as the new owner of The Moray Cafe, it was with the understanding that there was a lot at stake. The Merthyr Road cafe has been feeding locals for a long time, and the following it has amassed over the years is heavily invested in the continuation of The Moray Cafe’s high standard of casual and delicious dining. With that in mind, Chanel (who is a New Farm local and The Moray Cafe regular herself) set out to bring The Moray Cafe up to scratch with a contemporary revamp. The sprucing process has added a few new stylish design features, including minimalistic black and white detailing and a vibrant green leaf print on the walls that really catch the eye.
Chefs Timothy Owen and Christian Fardell have come on board to help curate The Moray Cafe’s day and night food offering respectively. The brunch set will be amply satisfied with dishes such as breakfast panna cotta, Sicilian scrambled eggs, pumpkin French toast and quinoa brunch bowls (don’t fret, the all-day breakfast legacy continues). Lunch munchers can order sticky pulled-pork burgers, porcini mushroom risotto, Swiss cheese burgers and Mediterranean cous cous salad, while the dinner crowd can treat themselves to braised beef cheeks, roasted capsicum and butternut pumpkin arancini, spicy Asian prawn salad, and soy lime-glazed chicken breast. Those that want to linger a little longer can also sample from a new drinks menu, which boasts red and white wine, boutique beers, spirits and liqueurs for leisurely sipping.
