The round-up: food truck fever – where to get your snack on during the week

In the words of Craig David from his smash hit ‘Seven Days’ – “found a food truck on Monday, sought another for some eats on Tuesday, we were snacking down on Wednesday, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and once more on Sunday.” We’re not 100 percent certain, but we’re fairly sure that’s how the song goes. Brisbane’s street food scene is a veritable melting pot of good eats – so good in fact that locals are often opting for a hearty food truck feast instead of dining out. If you’ve ever craved street eats on a school night and have been unable to find a mobile meal dispensary nearby, take solace in the fact that food trucks do roam the streets on every night of the week. With the help of Brisbane Food Trucks, we’ve done the legwork to give you a seven-day rundown of where you can go to find a reliable food truck feed on any given night.

Monday
We don’t care if Monday’s blue, life is great when we’ve got food. If the Monday melancholies have got you down, take heart – there is a sublime dinner waiting for you when you knock off. Yes, that’s right – food trucks do operate on Mondays! If you are keen on starting the week on a tasty note, head to Green Beacon Brewing in Newstead and grab a slice from Pizzantica every Monday. If you don’t feel like pizza, King of the Wings also gets into the Monday spirit with an appearance every week at JB HiFi in Kedron from 5:00–7:30 pm.

Tuesday
We’re all for renaming the second day of the work week to Tasty Tuesday thanks to the effort put in by Brisbane’s food truck community. Pizzantica hangs out at Green Beacon Brewing on Tuesdays, while Vira Lata Food Truck hawks its goods in Stafford at Roy Harvey Park on Byth Street and near Annerley’s Billykart Kitchen alternating fortnightly. The Bun Mobile alternates its location each Tuesday, taking up position at Cannon Hill opposite the Caltex and at Bob Jane T-Mart on Cavendish Road in Coorparoo, while King of the Wings parks its truck at Pacific Petroleum in Sunnybank on Tuesday evenings.

Wednesday
When a mid-week hunger pang makes you double over, do you know where to go to get your gobble on? Brisbane City Food Trucks sets up on the corner of Alfred and Constance Streets from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm, while those wanting to get a grip on a delicious burger can find Mr Burger at Fox Coffee in Geebung from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm. The reliable Green Beacon Brewing welcomes King of the Wings every Wednesday for a night dedicated to the classic pairing of beer and chicken. The Bun Mobile alternates dinner at Souths Rugby Fields in Graceville and Bob Jane T-Mart in Carina on Wednesdays. You can also catch Vira Lata Food Truck at the Cannon Hill Baptist Church on Richmond Road from 5:30–8:30 pm doing 50 cent wings – yasss!
