That’s amore – the best spots in Brisbane to get a slice of vegan pizza

There’s been some big news in the world of plant-based dining lately, what with Domino’s announcing that it was launching its own range of vegan pizzas and all. This is huge deal for anyone that often gets the hots for what’s in the box with the dots, but if you didn’t already know, vegan pizza has been around for some time. Brisbane’s got a host of hotspots that whip up covetable circles of heaven topped with all manner of vegan-friendly ingredients for dine-in and delivery, so if you’re new to the vegan lifestyle, it might be handy to bookmark this list next time you’re getting a hankering for a slice.

Our vegan pizza hunt starts with some dynamo dine-in destinations. Martha Street Kitchen pairs a killer wine list with an array of pizzas that boast vegan bases and a smoked sesame vegan cheese substitute. It’s no secret that The Burrow has long been a go-to destination for tasty fare of all kinds, but some of you might not know that the West End mainstay also serves up delicious pizzas topped with vegan cheese. Swap out the dairy for the alternative on the Beets & Pieces, which boasts wilted greens, braised beetroot, cashew “cheese,” marinated walnuts and port reduction on a tomato base and boom – dairy-free heaven. Also in West End, Vege Rama can serve all of its pizzas in a vegan variety, which means you’ve got eight gourmet choices for your next pizza party. When it comes to a comprehensive selection of vegan slices, Clayfield’s Pizza Cartel HQ has a menu you just can’t refuse. The Boos pizza is topped with a pesto base, pine nuts, mushrooms, green capsicum, sliced tomatoes and garlic, while the Consigliere offers up mushroom, eggplant, tofu and maple syrup.

While dining out is a lot of fun, the humble delivery pizza is an unbeatable option when opting spending a night in. Brisbane City and Indooroopilly’s Corbett & Claude offers the option of vegan cheese for all of its pizzas, and we’ve got our eyes on one in particular – The Botanist, which boasts a tomato base, grilled pumpkin, zucchini, caramelised onion and rocket. You can get your pizza delivered through Uber EATS, Foodora and Deliveroo. Boroughs of New York replicates the flavours of the Big Apple with their pizzas, but its vegan margherita is a bona fide winner. Vegan mozzarella is paired with pizza sauce and fresh basil, while you can (figuratively) beef up your choice by adding vegan chicken, vegan bacon or vegan pepperoni. Boroughs of New York delivers its pizzas around town nightly. Two Sisters Pizza in Milton sends its slices out via Uber EATS and Deliveroo, and gives patrons the option of substituting dairy with Tofutti vegan cheese, which sounds pretty good when popped on its vegetarian selections. Veganism Pizzeria is a new favourite on Uber EATS, which cooks up pizzas topped with the likes of felafel, smashed avocado, vegan pulled pork, vegan chicken, roasted pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and even vegan duck.
