Okay, we know that the winter chill in Brisbane isn’t as severe as some of our southern compatriots, but we’re not going to sit around and pretend our winters aren’t cold. We love breaking out the puffer jackets and layering up, especially when it means we get to visit Veuve Clicquot In The Snow – the seasonal pop-up that transforms the open-air dining space at Customs House into a wonderland of winter frivolity. From Thursday May 18 until the end of July, the riverside terrace will once again be adorned in the familiar yellow-orange tones of Veuve Clicquot as the famed champagne house hosts its annual mid-year pop-up. Evoking the cosy aesthetic of European chalets, the activation’s signature igloos (adorned in faux fur and winter-themed decor) will once again be available for you and your friends to hire, while a menu of snacks will help keep bellies full and insides warm.
This year’s Veuve Clicquot In The Snow menu features a delectable (and decadent) array of bites, starting with the pop-up’s signature Moreton Bay bug croissant, mac ‘n’ cheese croquettes, baked whole brie, pumpkin provolone arancini, wagyu beef tartare, and Tasmanian Pacific oysters. Those more inclined to graze can nibble on platters topped with Woodside Jersey brie, Berry’s Creek oak blue and West Country Farmhouse cave-aged cheddar. A visit to Veuve Clicquot In The Snow isn’t complete without a flute or two of some bubbly – three Veuve drops are on offer (Brut NV, Rosé NV and a 2012 vintage) alongside glasses of white, red and rosé, four kinds of beer and four cocktails.
Veuve Clicquot in the Snow will launch at Customs House on Thursday May 18 and will operate on Thursdays and Fridays from 4:00–9:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00–9:00 pm. Click here for info on how to book an igloo for you and your pals.
